Genetic Testing

Interpreting genetic testing can be complex.  Basically, what we are testing for is modifiable genetic polymorphisms.  There are hundreds of these, but not all of them are significant.  We can however, test for SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) that have a major impact on your current and future health.  In conclusion, we can determine several pathways which may have an enzyme deficiency and support those processes with minerals and cofactors to get you functioning as close to normal as possible.  For some people this can make a big difference.

What We Can Test For

  • MTHFR – methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. Folate enzyme deficiency, which affects detoxification, immune function, antioxidant levels, heart disease risk, and neurotransmitter production.
  • COMT – Catechol-O-methyltransferase. Enzyme that breaks down catecholamine and neurotransmitters.
  • ApoE4 – Risk factor for Alzheimers.  Early prevention steps you can start now to minimize the risk later.

We can convert genetic zip files to a readable PDF format.

Possible Symptoms of MTHFR

  • Frequent infections
  • Migraines
  • Mood disorders
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Infertility
  • Autoimmunity
  • Depression
  • Alzheimers/dementia
  • Heart Disease, Stroke
  • Chemical sensitivities

Possible Symptoms of COMT

  • Increased tendency toward nervousness, anxiety (elevated epinephrine and norepinephrine)
  • Symptoms consistent with very high dopamine – Aggression, reckless behavior, increased focus, less adaptable to changes.
  • Hormone imbalances
