Do you take Insurance?

We do not bill insurance for our consulting service fees. Functional medicine is not treating any disease, but rather focuses on improving your health, which is not typically be covered by insurances. Some lab tests may potentially be covered. You can include your insurance information on the requisition form with the lab testing kit along with your billing information. If the test is covered, the lab will automatically bill the insurance company for you. If it is not covered, they will charge you the cash rate. You should initially plan on the labs not being covered by insurance since the diagnostic tests fall outside of the conventional model of care.

Do you take Medicare?

The online functional medicine consulting fees are not covered by Medicare. The lab tests are also typically not covered. Some lab companies do participate with Medicare, which means they would submit a bill to Medicare for you. Any reimbursement from Medicare would go to your home address after you have made the initial payment to the lab. Insurances and Medicare operate on the standard medical treatments and diagnosis of diseases. Therefore, advanced functional labs to optimize your health, are likely not covered because they are seen as not medically necessary.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes, you can use an HSA or FSA account. Both professional services and laboratory tests are qualified expenses so you can use your HSA or FSA card to pay for lab tests and Thrive FM consulting services. Nutritional supplements are not covered so you would need to pay for those separately. (DCFSA or LCFSA accounts cannot be used.)
